We’re dog parents who have loved several dogs and lost them to a brain tumor, a mysterious spleen growth, and other issues.
We know what it feels like to go from everyday routines… to suddenly wishing you had more time, more answers, and better choices along the way.
Those experiences changed how we think about caring for our dogs. It gave us a sense of urgency to treat dogs right every day, knowing that small ordinary moments add up in a dog’s short life.
We researched fresh foods, simple ingredients, and looked closely at every food label.
Over time, that became the standard:

Ty, Our First Love
Tycoolz is inspired by -and named after- Ty, a.k.a the Sheriff. Ty was a smart cunning super mutt always on the lookout to protect his family - be it from villains or varmints.
At age 12, our otherwise strong-willed and joyful boy developed an unknown growth on his spleen. Meanwhile something mysterious was wreaking havoc on his GI system and destroying his internal organs.
We had been feeding him by-product and chemical laden pet food for over a decade, and now the damage from all those years was manifesting in full force.
Ty’s illness shocked us back to our roots of using food as medicine; we shopped the grocery store aisles for clean ingredients, added power foods, and cooked all his meals. But there wasn’t enough time to undo the damage. Ty was getting more sick and dying.
The lessons we learned from loving Ty through his illness, his strength, and his zest for life are the driving forces behind our mission to treat dogs right.
